The WXV Global Series Challenger is heading toward an unbeaten showdown after Fiji and the Netherlands both moved to 2–0 in Hong Kong, while Spain responded to its opening-week defeat with a dominant victory over Samoa.
Fiji produced the most explosive attacking performance of the second weekend, running in eight tries to defeat Hong Kong China 54–26. The Netherlands took a very different route to the same 2–0 record, surviving a late Brazilian comeback for a 17–15 victory.
Earlier in the day, Spain rediscovered its attacking rhythm with a 61–21 win over Samoa.
The results leave Fiji at the top of the standings with 10 competition points, one ahead of the Netherlands, setting up a meeting between the tournament’s only two unbeaten teams on September 26.

Spain needed a response after falling 38–32 to Fiji on the opening weekend, and Las Leonas delivered one emphatically.
Claudia Pérez opened the scoring after only three minutes, and Spain gradually took control despite a more competitive start from Samoa. By halftime, Spain had built a 33–0 advantage behind five tries.
Samoa finally broke through after the restart when Easter Savelio crossed, but Spain’s ability to create space and attack through multiple phases kept the scoreboard moving. Savelio added a second try for Samoa and Drenna Falaniko also crossed as Manusina showed considerably more attacking threat than in their opening 70–0 loss to the Netherlands.
Spain, however, finished with nine tries and 61 points to secure its first victory of the tournament.
The underlying numbers show how effectively Spain turned possession into attacking opportunities. Las Leonas carried 116 times for 467 metres, made eight clean breaks and beat 20 defenders. They also produced 11 offloads and crossed the gain line on 76 carries.
Spain finished with 53% possession and controlled 61% of the territory, while Samoa attempted 143 tackles.
The result moves Spain to 1–1 and seven competition points before its final match against Brazil.

Fiji 54–26 Hong Kong China
Fiji’s second victory was considerably more chaotic.
Fijiana scored twice in the opening 11 minutes through Adi Salote Nailolo and Varanisese Qoro, only for Hong Kong China to answer through Tanya Dhar and Sabay Lynam and briefly move in front.
Then Fiji’s attack exploded.
Qoro’s second try started a run of four Fiji scores in approximately 11 minutes before halftime, turning a competitive contest into one controlled by Fijiana.
Atelaite Buna Ralivanawa scored twice during the surge, with Merewairita Neivosa also crossing as Fiji’s support play and ability to attack broken defensive lines repeatedly created opportunities.
Hong Kong China continued to compete after halftime and ultimately earned a fourth try through Lucia Bolton after the clock had gone red, but Fiji had already put the match beyond reach. Replacements Zipporah Sorokacika and Vasemaca Duva added second-half tries as Fijiana finished with eight.
The statistical difference with ball in hand was substantial.
Fiji carried for 634 metres compared with Hong Kong China’s 251 and beat 46 defenders. Fijiana also recorded 11 clean breaks, 22 offloads and crossed the gain line on 84 of their 136 carries.
Yet Hong Kong China actually controlled much of the field position. They had 59% territory in the first half and 70% in the second, finishing with 65% overall.
That contrast was one of the most striking elements of the match. Hong Kong China spent more time in the attacking areas of the field, but Fiji were devastating when opportunities appeared.
With two bonus-point victories, Fiji sit top of the Challenger standings with the maximum 10 competition points through two rounds.

Netherlands 17–15 Brazil
The final match produced an entirely different contest.
A week after overwhelming Samoa 70–0, the Netherlands had to survive until the final whistle against Brazil.
Racquel Kochhann gave As Yaras the ideal start, collecting her own kick to score under the posts before converting for a 7–0 lead.
Kika Mulling eventually answered for the Netherlands with her fifth try of the tournament before Inger Jongerius crossed late in the first half. Alexis Muggleton’s try shortly after halftime extended the Dutch advantage and ultimately proved crucial.
Brazil refused to disappear.
When Pleuni Kievit was shown a yellow card with 11 minutes remaining, As Yaras immediately attacked the numerical advantage. Giovanna Barth crossed following a kick behind the Dutch defensive line, cutting the deficit to just two points.
Brazil had seven minutes to find the winning score.
It never came.
The 17–15 scoreline becomes even more interesting when looking at the match statistics. Brazil had 63% possession, including 76% in the second half, and finished with 59% territory.
Brazil also carried 146 times compared with only 68 for the Netherlands.
But the Dutch defence absorbed the pressure.
The Netherlands attempted 220 tackles and completed them at an 88% rate. Brazil, meanwhile, was unable to turn its overwhelming share of late possession into the final score it needed.
The Netherlands remain unbeaten at 2–0 and sit second with nine competition points, one behind Fiji.

Fiji’s position at the top is notable because the Netherlands have the tournament’s best points differential at +72, more than double Fiji’s +34. Fiji’s two bonus-point victories have given Fijiana the maximum 10 competition points available through two rounds.
Brazil are also an interesting case. Despite losing both matches, As Yaras have collected three bonus points and sit fifth on three competition points.

After two weekends, the Challenger has produced a compelling headline matchup for the final round.
Fiji are first with 10 competition points. The Netherlands are second with nine.
And they play each other next.
Their paths to 2–0 could hardly look more different.
Fiji have demonstrated an ability to turn attacking opportunities into tries almost instantly. Against Hong Kong China, Fijiana produced 634 metres, beat 46 defenders and made 22 offloads despite Hong Kong China controlling 65% of the territory.
The Netherlands opened with a 70–0 demolition of Samoa and then showed a completely different side of their game by defending through sustained Brazilian pressure to escape with a two-point victory.
There is also an intriguing statistical contrast between the two unbeaten teams.
Through two rounds, Fiji have scored a tournament-high 92 points, while the Netherlands have conceded only 15, the fewest in the competition.
That gives the final weekend a natural collision: the Challenger’s highest-scoring team against its stingiest defence.
Spain remain third with seven points after their emphatic recovery against Samoa, while Hong Kong China sit fourth on six. Brazil’s three bonus points have given As Yaras three competition points despite their 0–2 record.
The exact final standings will still depend on the results and bonus points collected across the last round, but Fiji against the Netherlands is unquestionably the headline match.
