At the top of the table, the Bay Breakers and Denver Onyx share first place with identical 6-1 records and 30 competition points, while TC Gemini sits just two points back at 28 points, keeping the race for the regular-season title wide open. Every match this weekend carries significance, whether it’s a battle for first place or an opportunity to build momentum heading into the final weeks of the season.
The first meetings between this week’s opponents produced 126 combined points, standout individual performances, and plenty of unfinished business. Now, those same six clubs meet again with far more at stake.

When these teams met on May 30 at TCO Stadium, Gemini established control early behind an explosive attacking display. Megan Ahnen scored a hat trick, while Chloe Headland added a try and converted seven tries in a dominant offensive performance.
Boston continued to compete throughout the match despite the early deficit. Catherine Benson and Lauren Ferridgecrossed in the second half, while Paula Kathleen Vincze added a penalty goal and conversion as the Banshees showed flashes of the attack they’ve continued to develop.
Containing Gemini won’t be easy.
The visitors feature three of the league’s most dangerous finishers. Melisa Rios Mena and Megan Ahnen are tied for second in Women’s Elite Rugby with six tries apiece, while Abbey Jacobs has added five more. Together, they’ve accounted for 17 tries this season.
For Boston, success begins with controlling possession and limiting Gemini’s opportunities in transition. Vincze’s tactical kicking and the leadership of captain Yejadai Dunn will be critical if the Banshees are to keep Gemini’s attack from finding rhythm.

New York enters the weekend fourth in the standings with 10 competition points, while Chicago is still searching for momentum after a challenging start to the season. For both clubs, Week 8 represents an opportunity to establish a positive trajectory entering the closing weeks of the campaign.
The Exiles claimed a 40-19 victory when the teams met in Round 1, but the Tempest were competitive throughout much of the contest.
Chicago opened the scoring before New York responded through Caoilfhionn Conway Morrissey and Jessica Salud. After Kalie Korpitz answered for the Tempest, the Exiles gradually pulled away behind a hat trick from Caoimhe O’Sullivan-Roche and composed game management from captain Congetta Owens.
Chicago’s challenge will be turning sustained pressure into points.
Captain Nicole Fisch has been one of the league’s most reliable kickers, ranking second in WER with five conversions, while Gracie Anderson and Katherine Lohaus continue to provide consistent attacking production.

The Bay Breakers and Denver Onyx both enter the weekend with 6-1 records and 30 competition points, making Sunday’s clash one of the biggest matches of the regular season to date.
Bay earned a 36-19 victory in the first meeting back on May 3, but Denver remained within striking distance before the Breakers created separation during the second half.
This time, the Onyx return to Infinity Park with the league’s leading scorer directing the attack.
Alyssa Cunningham tops Women’s Elite Rugby with 34 points while also leading the league with 12 conversions. Her game management and accuracy from the kicking tee have been instrumental in Denver’s rise to the top of the table.
The Onyx also feature the league’s leading try scorer in Soraia Parr, whose eight tries pace the competition.
