New Zealand takes a 1–0 series lead into Cape Town for the second Test against South Africa. Argentina hosts Australia in Jujuy, Army opens its men’s season against Queens, and another full round of Midwest club rugby stretches across the United States.
One Test down. Three still to come.
New Zealand struck first in Rugby’s Greatest Rivalry, scoring five tries in a 33–16 victory at Ellis Park. Four days later, the touring side survived a demanding franchise match against the 10bet Lions, winning 41–35.
The focus now moves to Cape Town, where South Africa must respond and New Zealand can take control of the four-Test series. Elsewhere, Argentina and Australia begin a two-match run, while the American fall calendar continues to grow.

New Zealand has the lead. South Africa has the pressure.
The first Test belonged to New Zealand. South Africa controlled long stretches territorially and led 16–12, but the All Blacks were sharper when the match opened up and finished with five tries to one.
Will Jordan scored twice, while New Zealand’s breakdown pressure repeatedly disrupted South African possession. Jordie Barrett led that effort with five turnovers won as the All Blacks turned defensive resistance into attacking opportunities.
South Africa now returns to Cape Town needing to convert pressure into points. Pieter-Steph du Toit is set to captain the Springboks in his 100th Test, while Ox Nche is in line for his 50th appearance.
A New Zealand win would make it 2–0. A South African win would reset the series.
Argentina and Australia begin their two-match series.
Jujuy hosts the opening meeting before the teams travel to Mendoza for the rematch on September 5. For both sides, Saturday begins an important two-week examination before the international calendar moves into its next phase.
New Zealand referee Ben O’Keeffe will take charge, with James Doleman and Gianluca Gnecchi serving as assistant referees.

THE SEASON BUILDS.
After an opening round filled with high totals and decisive results, Midwest teams return Saturday with a deeper schedule spanning men’s and women’s divisions. These four matchups provide the clearest early tests.
Cincinnati’s men opened with a 19–12 road win over Pittsburgh Forge, while the Griffins fell 28–21 to Detroit. In Division 2, Palmer and Wisconsin both began with large shutout victories. Cincinnati Kelts Women face an immediate response test after a 91–15 opening loss, while Fort Wayne enters following a 49–10 win.
